Maximizing Profit, Passion and Product to Hit Your Business Sweet Spot Zone

New  tech strategic sweet spot

There is an area on a golf club or tennis racket that players call the sweet spot. They know that if they swing and connect with the ball at that exact spot, they get the best possible results. That's very sweet, indeed.

Strategies, particularly those that involve adoption of new technologies, also have sweet spots. Connecting with the right strategy at the right time supported with the right resources will produce the best possible results.

But, the "S spot"--strategic sweet spot--is always shrinking dramatically. Fast-moving rivals from around the globe shrink the competitive sweet spot for even the most innovative of companies. The integration of the world's financial system, now hard wired into an instantaneous global information system, compresses the financial sweet spot even further. A management labor pool that is globally mobile and conditioned for instant gratification also reduces the human capital sweet spot.

But while the labor, capital, or competitive sweet spots are narrowing, the technology sweet spot is shrinking the fastest of all. That's a real problem because over the last 50 years, the technology sweet spot has become the most strategically critical one. Technology adoption cycles are contracting so quickly that the time available for making the strategic decision to adopt or implement technologies has reduced from centuries to decades, and now can shrink from years to days.
